Today, May 31st marks a very special day at The Aesthetic Surgery Centre. We celebrate the birthdays of Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani and our Practice Manager - Marianne! Wishing you both the best for the years to come. May your days be filled with sunshine. And may your nights be filled with comforting dreams and wishes to come. Wishing you both health and happiness in life. (Dr. Jon) May your pantry be filled with endless supply of peanut butter :) As a trained classical pianist, Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani has developed his artistic side over the course of his lifetime, and that makes him a better plastic surgeon. "Name one way to cope with post-surgical pain" was posted on our Facebook Fan Page this weekend and we had great responses! All those who responded over the weekend answered correctly and will be awarded with a gift card for your participation. First we must realize that everyone handles pain differently. A history of chronic pain and long term pain medication usage will lead to a tolerance to the pain medication which may result in taking higher doses of medication for pain relief. Treating pain promptly is always best. You should not delay taking prescribed medication when the pain starts. Taking the time to talk to your surgeon and anesthesiologist about your concerns and needs as they relate to pain management following surgery is important.... Continue Reading

Thank you all for your wonderful feedback on Facebook last week! There are many technologies out in the wound closure market such as removal sutures, absorbable sutures, staples, clips, steri-strips, sealants/glue, etc; however a knotless suture that Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani is utilizing is fascinating technology that I wanted to enlighten my readers on. The Quill™ suture is truly an amazing and extradordinary tissue closure device that does not require knots, so it is designed to self-anchor itself! The suture is not smooth to feel, it has a barbed-design which is bi-directional. The Quill™ suture is manufactured by Angiotech. The suture is especially useful during abdominoplasty procedures to repair the muscle damage that was done with pregnancy. It is the only closure device that eliminates... Continue Reading

O – Optimistic. Mothers are seldom ever negative when it comes to their children. Mothers always expect to see the best of their children. T – True. Mothers are true to their children. They never lie to them and they encourage truth. H – Highest. For children, the mother is the person to whom they look up to as the... Continue Reading
Thank you all for great feedback on last Friday’s trivia question on “What can be done to help with scar healing?” All of your answers are correct and we value your input. Unfortunately once an incision is made, a scar is then created. The attention then focuses on what we can do to help with scar healing. The avoidance of sunlight can certainly reduce the hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation of the scar. Recommended options are using a bandage to cover the scar during the first three months while the wound heals while doing activities in the sunlight, or, to use sun block, preferably with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide with an SPF of 35 or higher. Vitamin E, Mederma gel and following your surgeon’s recommendation are... Continue Reading
