Let’s get right to it: Myth: “I’m too old to get Breast Augmentation” Fact: During your consultation, your health and medical history will be reviewed in great length. Happy Doctors’ Day!

Jon Paul Trevisani, M.D., F.A.C.S., or better known to his patients as “Dr. Jon,” is board-certified in plastic surgery and is the founder and Medical Director of the Aesthetic Surgery Centre in Maitland, Florida. The Aesthetic Surgery Centre is one of the leading breast augmentation and plastic surgery centers in the state. To answer last Friday’s Facebook post, Dr. Jon gave up his love for peanut butter for Lent. It has not been easy for him, especially when he finds me having peanut butter breath all day long or even finding an over-sized open jar of peanut butter on the kitchen counter! His love for peanut butter spreads for many many years. I’ve seen him spread his Peanut Butter on a piece of graham cracker,... Continue Reading

Capsular Contracture: How? Why? And What?

Did you know that an asthma medication can help with Capsular Contracture? Read more and find out… WHAT IS IT? Capsular contracture is a rare occurrence that can sometimes affect women who have breast implants. The condition is characterized by thick tight scar tissue forming around the breast implant and causing a feeling of hardness to the breast. Capsular contracture can also have an effect on breast shape and discomfort may also be evident. The surgical removal of this scar tissue is called Capsulectomy. HOW CAN I HELP AVOID THIS? The product is also offered by Allergan Inc. and Johnson and Johnson (unit of Mentor Worldwide, LLC). Sientra is based in Santa Barbara, California and founded by Chief Executive Hani Zeini who helped launch this privately held company. Sientra will offer implants in multiple shapes and sizes, in addition to the round implants currently manufactured by Allergan Inc. and Johnson & Johnson’s Mentor Worldwide, LLC. Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani says his patients chose silicone over saline implants at roughly the same percentage, and often attribute their choice to the more natural appearance and... Continue Reading

Poly Implant Prothése (PIP) Suspended From Marketing, Distribution and Exportation

Recent news reports have given light to the manufacturing standards of breast implants. Breast implants made by French company Poly Implant Prothése (PIP) have been found to contain industrial-grade silicone instead of medical-grade silicone. Approximately 300,000 women in 65 countries received implants made by the company. The PIP implants have been suspended from marketing, distribution and exportation. The health risks of industrial-grade silicone remain unclear but there are speculations of increased incidence of inflammation and concerns about cancer and other toxic exposures. PIP silicone implants were never approved and/or licensed for the use in the United States. It is important to reiterate and stress that implants in the United States have a long, proven history of high quality with rigorous testing during the manufacturing process.... Continue Reading
