The eyes are often the first area of the face to start showing signs of aging. Eyelid skin can begin to sag, fatty tissue can build up, and the result can be a face that appears tired or sad. Eyelid surgery, medically referred to as blepharoplasty, can address these issues and help you regain a more rested and youthful look. Our extensively trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani, offers the most advanced techniques available, and he’s renowned for his natural-looking results. Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both. If most of your concerns are relegated to either the upper or lower lids, it may make sense to focus your treatment there. Many patients, however, have signs of aging... Continue Reading

An abdominoplasty—more commonly called a tummy tuck—is designed to eliminate excess skin around the midsection as well as tighten the underlying abdominal muscles. An incision is made from one hip to the other to achieve a flatter stomach, repair stretched or torn muscles beneath the skin, and redrape the remaining skin. Although most patients are ultimately very happy with their tummy tuck results, prospective patients are often nervous about the placement and appearance of the scar. During the consultation process, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani will review your expectations as well as perform a physical exam to give you an idea of where the incision will be placed. By making the surgical incision low on the abdomen, the resulting scar can typically... Continue Reading
Breast augmentation continues to be one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures — in fact, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recently reported that it is still the #1 cosmetic surgery procedure, with 279,143 breast augmentations performed in 2015. Unfortunately, some women interested in breast enhancement might perceive it as a procedure only younger women undergo, and therefore avoid it. However, the truth is that there is no age limit when it comes to breast augmentation. Candidacy is actually determined by other factors, such as the patient’s overall health. While a patient’s age does not necessarily disqualify them from receiving breast implants, it can sometimes affect their aesthetic goals — for example, a younger patient is likely to be mostly concerned with increasing their... This question is a common concern among women interested in breast augmentation, but you can rest assured knowing that a mammogram can be effectively completed on breasts with implants. Experienced radiologists can examine an augmented breast by using specialized techniques, but the specific method used will depend on the breast implant placement (above or below the pectoral muscle). “Implant displacement” is typically the best approach for patients who have breast implants that are below the chest muscle. Using this method, the radiologist can push the implant back along the patient’s chest wall while pulling the breast tissue forward to capture four images (in addition to the four standard x-ray views). In some rare cases, the implants might continue to obstruct the views too much. In... Continue Reading
Many patients come into our office requesting specific plastic surgery procedures to address their concerns. Unfortunately, when an individual does not meet candidacy requirements for the procedure they have expressed interest in, Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani advises against it. Fortunately, a one-on-one patient consultation can allow Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani to recommend an alternative treatment whenever possible, including non-surgical options. In the consultation, Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani can learn more about what the patient wishes to accomplish with aesthetic surgery. Based on the patient’s desired outcomes, he can suggest the treatment(s) or procedure(s) that may best achieve the patient’s goals safely and effectively. Dr. Jon Paul Trevisani also believes it is important to provide patients with realistic expectations -- if the requested procedure is likely... Continue Reading
Although abdominoplasty is a popular procedure for women who have already had children (usually as part of a mommy makeover), some patients may decide to have children afterward - whether or not they have already been through childbirth in the past. Some patients have expressed concern over whether or not the procedure will affect their ability to carry a baby, but pregnancy after an abdominoplasty is completely possible. It is important to note, however, that some women may experience loosening of the abdominal wall and/or excess loose skin on the abdomen following childbirth. In these cases, women who have already had a tummy tuck may be faced with a decision to repeat the procedure. Ultimately, it is usually best to delay tummy tuck surgery until... Continue Reading
Loose, inelastic skin developing in the breasts is a very common occurrence, and many women begin to feel very self-conscious when the breasts take on a “sagging” appearance. Often due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, genetics, weight loss, or even just the toll that gravity and the natural aging process eventually takes on the body, the effects of excess skin among the breasts can be significantly reduced and improved with breast lift surgery. When this option is considered by women here at the Aesthetic Surgery Centre, one of the most common questions we receive is: “Are breast implants necessary as part of a breast lift?” The answer ultimately depends on one’s individual needs and goals; but, in general, the answer is no. Breast lift surgery and breast... Continue Reading
Last Friday we posted a question on Facebook to name one factor you consider when choosing your plastic surgeon. We received great feedback! When considering plastic surgery, finding the surgeon who you are most comfortable with is important. You want to feel confident in his or her skill, as well. Before moving forward with any cosmetic surgery, we always recommend for patients to conduct thorough research. Talk to friends and family members who have had a positive experience with a surgeon, and look online for doctors in your area (or beyond, if you’re willing and able to travel). Once you’ve selected a few surgeons, look into each physician’s education, experience, and professional background. Review before and after photos, read through patient reviews and testimonials, and... Continue Reading
